Disheveled, Swollen Trump Appears in Bizarre Fox Interview

August was supposed to be an important month for the Trump supporters who thought the ex-president was going to get reinstated following Mike Lindell’s cyber symposium. Some are still holding out hope that this is the month Trump’s coming back, like those who believe he will remerge as president on Saturday in Alabama at his “Save America” rally. Given this context, Trump found it important to give some interviews this week to his favorite Fox News hosts, one of them being Sean Hannity. During the interview, Trump looked like he just rolled out of bed and at points his right eye appeared to be swollen shut. The ex-president opened the interview by talking about Joe Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan. The ex-POTUS said “it’s a terrible time for our country. I don’t think that in all of the years our country has been so humiliated.” Trump, of course, also wanted to withdraw from Afghanistan and had he won a second term, planned to do so on an earlier timeline than Joe Biden.

Hannity followed up with another question about Afghanistan, asking the former president how he would respond to those who mention Trump would have withdrawn in the same way Biden did. What followed was a 90-second incoherent Trump rant wherein he jumped all around the world talking about different countries. Trump touched on Afghanistan before moving on to his cozy relationship with Kim Jong-un and the summits they did together. Then he went immediately on to South Korea, saying “they pay us nothing. I got them to pay billions and billions of dollars.” This answer was a total free association Rorschach inkblot test of geopolitics. Later on in the interview, Hannity asked Trump what he would do differently if he was president now. Trump misunderstood the question, perhaps deliberately, to be one about whether he plans to run again. Trump, answering his own question at this point, hinted he plans to run again in 2024 but erroneously said he’s not allowed to announce it yet because of campaign finance laws. There’s really no point of Trump doing these interviews at this point because he somehow cannot provide any insights despite having served as president for four years. But his loyal supporters appear to love it nonetheless and will tune into Fox News or wherever else to watch him anyway.
