Sonali Kolhatkar speaks with Kenneth M. Roberts about the chaos and instability in Peru.
Peru has been engulfed in a tumultuous crisis for the past week switching Presidents three times as mass protests filled the streets. The Peruvian Congress picked Francisco Sagasti to lead the nation, a purported centrist, after interim President Manuel Merino stepped down five days into his tenure. Merino was installed after Congress ousted President Martín Vizcarra, accusing him of corruption. Vizcarra was carrying out an ambitious anti-corruption probe of legislators himself.
