Joe Biden’s approval rating continues to improve off its lows a few months ago. The president’s job approval sits at 43% according to an aggregate of polls by FiveThirtyEight. The inflation rate and gas prices have been trending down, which fairly or not, is reflecting well on Biden. He’s also fresh off the legislative success of signing the Inflation Reduction Act and the executive order to forgive up to $20,000 of student loan debt per borrower. These numbers are translating to Democrats having a decent shot now at doing well in the midterm races, even though Biden is not on the ballot. According to FiveThirtyEight, Democrats have a 26% chance of winning the House, up from 14% a few months back. They’ve also increased their chances of keeping the Senate from 40% to now 70%.
