America Suppresses Its Own History

Reggie Shuford and Greg Lindquist, two natives of Wilmington, North Carolina, speak with FSTV on #JustSolutions about how they didn't know about the Wilmington race massacre.

The legacy of the Wilmington massacre and coup of 1898 continues to resonate in North Carolina and beyond, all the while lawmakers in the state are trying to pass a bill that would ban the teaching of critical race theory and would prohibit schools from inviting speakers to discuss issues like the Wilmington massacre. Reggie Shuford and Greg Lindquist are both from Wilmington and have been working to educate themselves and the community on the history that is not being taught so we can learn from the past to understand the present.

FSTV’s Just Solutions features inspiring conversations with activists, community leaders, and others working to make our world a better place. We discuss the many challenges we are facing, while exploring the solutions emerging from the grassroots.
