A Guide to Critical Media Literacy for Young People
Young people are increasingly spending more time-consuming media on their digital devices, whether through social media, streaming movies and TV, news outlets, YouTube videos created by influencers, and more. Navigating this bewildering array of images and ideas can be overwhelming. Now, the newly formed Media Revolution Collective has written its first book, The Media and Me: A Guide to Critical Media Literacy for Young People. The book was written in conjunction with Project Censored, one of the preeminent anti-censorship and media literacy advocacy organizations in the United States for nearly fifty years.
Rising Up with Sonali is a radio and television show that brings progressive news coverage rooted in gender and racial justice to a wide audience. Rising Up With Sonali was built on the foundation of Sonali Kolhatkar's earlier show, Uprising, which became the longest-running drive-time radio show on KPFK in Los Angeles hosted by a woman. RUS airs on Free Speech TV every weekday.
