Sonali Kolhatkar speaks with Anita Walls about the Black National Convention.
This year saw a massive burst of popular anger at the racist police violence facing Black Americans. In the wake of George Floyd’s killing at the hands of Minneapolis police, videotaped for the world to see, hundreds of thousands of Americans marched and protested and are still doing so in some cities. The slogan Black Lives Matter became mainstream. Just months ahead of the most important election of our lifetimes, the Movement for Black Lives is launching a Black National Convention a week after the Democratic National Convention wrapped up.
