New York, February 5, 2018 — Manhattan Neighborhood Network (MNN) and Free Speech TV (FSTV)  are launching a new monthly series, Election 2018 – The Progressive Path Forward. The premiere episode, Election 2018 – The Progressive Path Forward: The Struggle for the Soul of the Democratic Party will premiere on Thursday, February 8 at 8 p.m. ET on both MNN-FSTV (Spectrum channel 1301 and FiOS channel 39 for Manhattan viewers or streaming online worldwide at mnn.org) and Free Speech TV (DISH 9415, DIRECTV 348, or streaming on Roku, Android TV, Apple TV and freespeech.org).

The forthcoming midterm election promises to be one of the most important in our nation’s history, so it’s up to every voter to be engaged and informed. How will widespread dissatisfaction with the regressive policies of the Trump Administration manifest itself? What will be the best strategy and most potent path forward for progressively-minded citizens heading into November?

Explore these questions and hear from leaders working on the frontlines of progressive change in Elections 2018: The Progressive Path Forward, a new series by Manhattan Neighborhood Network and Free Speech TV.

“This new monthly series will bring to our viewers critical reporting and analysis of what promises to be an epic battle over the future of this country. Election 2018: The Progressive Path Forward will feature exclusive conversations with a wide range of leaders on the front lines of the growing wave of resistance building to November,” said Ron Williams, Executive Director of Free Speech TV.

Moderated by Dr. Christina Greer, Associate Professor of Political Science at Fordham University and author Black Ethnics: Race, Immigration, and the Pursuit of the American Dream, produced by Globalvision and taped at the MNN El Barrio Firehouse Community Media Center in East Harlem.  Featured panelists in the premiere episode The Struggle for the Soul of the Democratic Party  include –

  • Aimee Allison, President of Democracy in Color, an organization that focuses on race, politics and the New American Majority
  • Dan Cantor, National  Director, Working Families Party.
  • Zephyr Teachout, political activist and former Democratic Party candidate for Governor of New York.  Currently, an Associate Professor of Law at Fordham University.
  • Jim Zogby, Co-Founder and President, Arab American Institute.  Former member of Executive Committee of the Democratic National Committee, and author of Arab Voices.

2018 Election Special – The Progressive Path Forward:  The Struggle for the Soul of the Democratic Party will premiere on Thursday, February 8th at 8pm ET on MNN-FSTV (Spectrum 1301 and FiOS channel 39 for Manhattan viewers or streaming live online worldwide at mnn.org) and on Free Speech TV (DISH 9415, DIRECTV 348 or streaming on Roku, Android TV, Apple TV and freespeech.org). ).
