Survival of the Richest: Escape Fantasies of the Tech Billionaires
The COVID-19 pandemic revealed in stark terms that when disaster strikes it does not affect people equally. Although many people insisted that “we are all in this together,” disparities became starkly visible along lines of race, gender, immigration, and of course wealth. Today’s billionaires, especially those in the technology industry who believe modern innovations can save us from anything and everything, are struggling with climate change and other similarly inevitable disasters. They are not, it turns out to no one’s surprise, trying to figure out how humanity will survive, but rather how they as individuals will survive.

Rising Up With Sonali was built on the foundation of Sonali Kolhatkar's earlier show, Uprising, which became the longest-running drive-time radio show on KPFK in Los Angeles hosted by a woman.
