Enfranchisement Did Not Come Easy, Register To Vote Today

2020 marks the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment—granting women the right to vote. Enfranchisement did not come easy. It was won by the persistence of the suffragists. Their victory laid the foundation for the civil rights movement and the Voting Rights Act of 1965, outlawing racial discrimination in voting. Today, Americans’ hard-won voting rights are under attack. Voter suppression, gerrymandering, corrupt financing, attacks on the postal service, and bald-faced lies have our democracy on the brink. But we can stand up for those who have fought before and for those who will follow our Footsteps. It’s time to register for a movement that votes. Go to poorpeoplescampaign.org/voting to get started today.
