We know you agree that Free Speech TV’s independent voice needs to be heard now more than ever!

We depend on your support and the support of many other trusted viewers like you to make it possible to broadcast our progressive programming as widely as possible.

In order to become available to larger audiences, we are expanding to new broadcast and digital platforms like Apple TV and Sling TV. Some of those platforms, including Roku, require networks like ours to accept a limited form of on-screen advertising. Because of that new requirement, video or still ads may appear on your screen when loading Free Speech TV on those platforms.

We plan to continue to expand the digital platforms on which we distribute our programming, and will begin to accept limited commercial messages on most of them in the future. You may also see occasional sponsorship announcements on our broadcast and web channels as well.

This is something new for our network, although other progressive media outlets, both for-profit and non-profit, such as Mother Jones, The Young Turks, Huffington Post and The Nation have accepted advertising for years.

You can be certain that these new commercial messages will not under any circumstance influence any editorial decisions we make and will be limited in their interruption of our programs. Free Speech TV will continue to be free from corporate control and government pressure, and will continue to operate as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit media organization that receives the majority of its funding from viewers like you.

While we will not in all cases have full control over what ads you may see, as a policy FSTV will not seek advertising or sponsorships from certain industries, including (but not limited to) defense, tobacco, guns and ammunition, adult, and agri-business. You may see sponsorships from sectors such as technology, consumer electronics, health and wellness, renewable energy, eco-friendly automobiles, credit unions, anti-smoking, and other non-profit organizations.

Please Note: We did not make this decision lightly and we are doing so with a keen sensitivity to the expectations of our audience and employees. It is critical that FSTV remain on such new and growing platforms such as Roku.

You can count on us to continue to elevate issues and lift up voices that are unable to break through the corporate media filter of other news organizations. We believe a more just and democratic world is possible when media empowers people with the information they need to fight for what matters.
