A report in the New York Post says that Russian President Vladimir Putin is sick and awaiting cancer surgery. This comes a day after a report surfaced from the British tabloid The Sun which claims that Putin has cancer and Parkinson’s disease. While neither the New York Post nor The Sun are the most credible news outlets, there is now a trend pointing in the direction that this is an accurate scoop. The New York Post wrote about this, “Putin will transfer control of Russia’s government to Nikolai Patrushev, head of the Russian federal police’s Security Council, while he is incapacitated during and after the [cancer] procedure.” If these reports are indeed accurate, it would explain why Putin has been behaving so irrationally with regard to his invasion of Ukraine. The Russian president may realize his time is limited and could be trying to solidify his legacy by taking over a neighboring country he thinks should be part of his own.
