The Uvalde Police Department has hired a private law firm to prevent the release of details to the public as to what exactly they were doing as a shooter was inside Robb Elementary School murdering 19 children and 2 teachers. The police are trying to shield records of body camera footage, photos, 911 calls, emails, and text messages. They argue the information should not be released due to pending litigation, because it would be “embarrassing” to the department, and because they don’t find it to be in the public’s interest. With all of the failures that took place on that day, and with how much the cops have changed their story, it’s clear that all of the information should be brought to light and they shouldn’t be able to get away with hiding it. The officers who refused to confront the shooter need to be held accountable by at the very least losing their jobs and possibly even by facing charges of child neglect.
