Fox News propagandist Tucker Carlson made fun of Congressman Dan Crenshaw’s eyepatch this week in what was a truly disgusting and hypocritical move. Tucker was interviewing former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard and the two were discussing Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the baby formula shortage. Tucker said, “the more I think about it, it takes a lot of gall for Eyepatch McCain to attack moms who worry about baby formula as quote pro-Russia.” This is not only a subtle contradiction for Tucker as someone who purports to respect military service, as Crenshaw lost an eye fighting overseas. It’s also a direct contradiction since he strongly criticized Pete Davidson several years ago when Davidson trivialized Crenshaw’s eye injury while doing a skit on Saturday Night Live. Tucker deserves to get criticism over this statement, but he probably won’t get it from his viewers, since right-wingers have been programmed in recent years not to care about hypocrisy at all.
