Tucker Carlson won’t stop pushing vaccine skeptical propaganda on his nighttime Fox News program. Despite the fact that Tucker is almost certainly immunized in keeping with Fox’s employee vaccine mandates, he doesn’t mind pushing dangerous anti-vax talking points to his viewers that could get them killed. On his program Monday, Carlson took issue specifically with the Pentagon’s vaccine mandate and called it a plan to remove “sincere Christians in the ranks, the free thinkers, the men with high testosterone levels, and anyone else who does not love Joe Biden.” He then went on to claim that thousands of people have died from taking the coronavirus vaccine and cited VAERS as his source. VAERS, the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System, does not require any validation of the information provided and has essentially become a message board for anti-vaxxers to make unchecked claims about adverse reactions. Just because VAERS is a government site, the testimonies on there aren’t proof of anything since anyone can say whatever they want on there. Even if it were true that thousands have died from the vaccines, which it’s not, that would be a minuscule amount out of the 182 million people who have been fully vaccinated in this country and the nearly 700,000 people who have died from COVID. Fox needs to put an end to Tucker’s conspiratorial nonsense, but given he hosts their top-rated show, the right-wing network is unlikely to step in his way.
