The gift records for Donald Trump and Mike Pence during their final year in office are missing. The State Department says it did not receive information from the president, vice president, and their respective families from the year 2020. The President's Executive Office is supposed to submit information yearly about gifts they’ve received from foreign dignitaries to the State Department. This is to make sure the president and vice president comply with the Foreign Emoluments Clause of the US Constitution. For example, President Obama did this in 2009 when his aides received thousands of dollars worth of jewels from the Saudi government. The Trump administration was bold in its violations of the Emoluments Clause, and this was just the latest example. Because no consequences ever came, Trump and the company felt encouraged to keep skirting the laws and accepting gifts without reporting them.
