After months of avoiding handing over call records to the January 6th congressional committee, Donald Trump’s team finally turned over some of the logs in question. However, there is a notable seven-hour gap in the records corresponding to the key hours when the Capitol riots were unfolding. These seven hours are of course the most important, as the committee needs to know who Trump was speaking to and what he was saying while the Capitol building was being taken over. The rest of the records show that the then-president was active during the day, speaking to at least eight people in the morning and eleven in the evening. But due to Trump’s obstruction, it’s unknown how many more people he spoke to between 11:17 am and 6:54 pm. The desperate attempts to keep this information private suggest that Trump has a lot to hide, including potential criminality. Although he’s been able to shield it, for now, it’s unclear whether he’ll be able to keep doing so as this investigation persists.
