Donald Trump has a 2022 midterm endorsement failure on his hands with alleged serial groper Charles Herbster losing his bid to become the Republican nominee for Governor of Nebraska. Jim Pillen won the race getting approximately 34% of the vote, with Herbster placing second at 30%. Trump said in his endorsement of Herbster that he is a “good man” and a “truly America-first Republican.” Eight women, including a state senator, allege that Herbster has groped, forcibly kissed, or touched them at public events over the years. Trump did however get another win on his record yesterday. Rep. Alex Mooney, whom Trump endorsed, defeated Rep. David McKinley in the GOP primary for West Virginia’s second congressional district, 54% to 36%. Tuesday’s one win and one loss for Trump probably won’t be enough to torpedo his endorsement power within the Republican field, but plenty of challenges remain for him this primary season.
