Donald Trump held another one of his wacky coronavirus press briefings and this time he touted non-stop conspiracy theories. Trump suggested the explosion in Beirut was an attack even though the consensus now is that it was due to negligence. Trump said, “you have some people that think it was an attack and you have some people that think it wasn't.” The President offered no evidence to support the theory this was a planned occurrence. This is incredibly irresponsible to do, but Trump just doesn’t seem to care. He also kept referring to Lebanon as “that country,” seemingly unaware of its name.
These press briefings are increasingly becoming an outlet for Donald Trump's panic over failed interviews. He’s constantly having to do damage control for idiotic tweets and poor media appearances. The press briefings recently have just been an opportunity for Trump to lie about the US coronavirus response and spread propaganda about vote-by-mail. We’ll see if he keeps them going until the election or if he will once again get bored talking about the virus.
