Breaking legislative gridlock, the U.S. Senate recently passed the Postal Service Reform Act by a vote of 79 to 19. The House of Representatives had passed the same bill last month by a vote of 342 to 92. The bill now goes to President Biden’s desk to be signed into law. The US Postal Service became deeply politicized during Donald Trump’s administration. US Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, a Trump appointee, took steps designed to undermine the efficiency and solvency of a government agency that Americans rely on. Is the Postal Service Reform Act enough to fix all or most of USPS’s problems?
