Senator Majority Leader Mitch McConnell claims that Republicans do not have the votes at this time to block impeachment witnesses from testifying in the impeachment trial of Donald Trump.
A simple majority of 51 senate votes would be required to call on witnesses. With 45 Democrats, and 2 Independents likely to vote for hearing from witnesses, at least 4 Republicans will also need to vote in favor.
While it seems, at the moment, that Mitt Romney and Susan Collins will be two of the four. "But until they do it, we don't know" cautions David Pakman. "Republicans are remarkably unreliable at doing the right thing," he adds.
