Republican says she's Jewish, actually granddaughter of a Nazi

Florida Republican Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna was recently exposed by the Washington Post for lying about her supposed Jewish heritage. Luna, who is almost certainly not Jewish, had claimed to have been raised as a Messianic Jew by her father and identified as a Christian but also claimed to be a small fraction Ashkenazi. As it turns out, Luna's paternal grandfather, Heinrich Maier Hoffer, was found to have served in the armed forces of Nazi Germany as a teenager in the 1940s. In addition to this, Luna has also used Nazi rhetoric in her political speech, including in a tweet about a potential registry of Americans who are not vaccinated against COVID-19. Luna must have figured that claiming she was Jewish would help her win her election in Florida. Now that this has been exposed as a lie, it opens up the door to other possible falsehoods by her being revealed and it’s conceivable she could end up facing a George Santos-style lying scandal.
