Florida Senator Rick Scott has released an eleven-point plan for the Republican Party to “rescue” the United States of America. The blueprint highlights how Republicans are no longer a party about policy because at least nine out of the eleven points are about culture war nonsense instead of actual issues. The plan includes such items as wanting children to say the pledge of allegiance and learning that America is “great” in schools.
Another point is about protecting the “American family” at all costs, while a separate one stated “men are men” and “women are women.” Arguably, the only substantive policy matter has to do with cutting social programs under the guise of “stopping socialism.” This platform is so childish that it’s hard to believe it could get adopted by one of the two major parties in the United States. However, with the way the Republican Party has been trending over the past few years, it would not at all be surprising to see this plan from Rick Scott get fully embraced by the right.
