The Republican National Committee is now joining Donald Trump and his allies in trying to shield email records from being released to the January 6th Committee. The House committee subpoenaed Salesforce to get the documents in question and the RNC rushed to court to block it from happening. This triggered a two-week delay and Judge Timothy Kelly will decide on April 1st whether the House will be able to obtain this data.
The RNC argues that handing over the emails, "would give the Select Committee unprecedented access to the RNC's internal political strategies and to private, personal information regarding its supporters." These same political strategies are exactly what got the country embroiled in a near-constitutional crisis and threatened democracy in the United States. It therefore shouldn’t be seen as a reason to block the access of investigators. This behavior does not appear to be that of innocent people and just like with Donald Trump, it seems like the RNC has much to hide when it comes to the planning and events of January 6, 2021.
