Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis has, for many months now, kept his name in the news headlines with announcements around banning books, attacks on gay and transgender rights, undermining educational curricula, and waging a general “war on wokeness.” It has been a long lead-up to his expected announcement of a 2024 presidential run. DeSantis has been adept at recasting attacks on people’s humanity as defending Floridians. Now, the progressive organization Florida Rising is readying its own strategy to take back the narrative of equality, fairness, safety, and democracy with a new campaign called Wake-Up Wednesdays.
Rising Up with Sonali is a radio and television show that brings progressive news coverage rooted in gender and racial justice to a wide audience. Rising Up With Sonali was built on the foundation of Sonali Kolhatkar's earlier show, Uprising, which became the longest-running drive-time radio show on KPFK in Los Angeles hosted by a woman. RUS airs on Free Speech TV every weekday.
