CNN’s Jim Acosta interviewed Judge Philip Journey, a board member of the National Rifle Association, about the recent mass shootings in Texas and New York. Acosta asked Journey if 18-year-olds should be able to own AR-15s with hundreds of rounds of ammunition. The judge, seemingly knowing it doesn’t make sense to say they should be deflected by saying, “these kinds of issues are far more complicated than whether we remove something from the public.” Acosta went on to ask Journey what he thought about Donald Trump dancing during his speech at the NRA convention. The board member outright denied that it happened, which prompted the CNN producers to play the video of Trump dancing on screen. The NRA would probably be better served to send someone other than Philip Journey to do these adversarial cable news interviews.
