News continues to roll out about the investigation into Congressman Matt Gaetz with the latest revelation being that Gaetz’s ex-girlfriend has been granted immunity in exchange for her participation with authorities. The Florida representative and staunch Trump ally are being investigated over allegations of child sex trafficking and prostitution. CBS News legal analyst Rikki Kleiman said about Gaetz’s ex-girlfriend’s participation, “this may be a willing participant who has a smart lawyer who sought an immunity deal from the government.
The government does not give immunity blindly, they know what they're getting in exchange." Gaetz is denying all accusations made against him and has claimed that it’s part of the latest effort to cancel him. However, it’s prompted Fox News and Gaetz’s right-wing allies to disassociate with him at least for the time being while the investigation is underway. Gaetz, like anyone else, is innocent until proven guilty, and he hasn’t even been charged yet. However, with the timeline of events and evidence piling up, it wouldn’t be at all surprising if charges are filed at some point this year.
