Pathological liar Congressman George Santos is now being accused of stealing $3,000 from a GoFundMe campaign intended for a service dog's life-saving surgery. The dog, named Sapphire, was given to a veteran named Richard Ostroff by a veterans’ charity. Sapphire developed a life-threatening tumor and Santos promised to raise funds for the surgery through his pet charity, Friends of Pets United. However, Santos allegedly closed the GoFundMe account after raising the money and disappeared, not providing any funds or veterinary care for the dog. Sapphire eventually died in January 2017. All of the lying Santos has done has been disgraceful, but this story, if true, would be a whole new layer of grotesque. This is just the latest example of many of why Santos is unqualified to be a member of Congress.
