Fox & Friends host Steve Doocy expressed concern about Donald Trump’s badmouthing of FBI agents, seeming to realize that it could put law enforcement officers in harms way. But then he went on to suggest people’s ire should be directed at the Justice Department and Attorney General Merrick Garland instead. Doocy said, “we just know that right now, given the fact that there is a suggestion that there are a lot of online, very specific apparently, very specific threats against very specific agents at the FBI and what not, it would be great for everybody to tamp down the rhetoric against the FBI, because the FBI simply was doing what the DOJ asked them to do. The Attorney General is the boss of the guy at the FBI, of all the people at the FBI.” Doocy seems to recognize that Trump is stoking up anger and could potentially cause people to commit violence. It’s just curious why he wouldn’t argue for people to tamp down the rhetoric against government officials altogether rather that just singling out the FBI.
