Donald Trump’s rallies have been getting more and more dangerous as time goes on as the former president continues down his authoritarian slide. At one point, Trump threatened revenge against federal prosecutors who are pursuing charges against those who went inside the Capitol on January 6th, 2021. He said, “if these radical, vicious, racist prosecutors do anything wrong or illegal, I hope we are going to have in this country the biggest protests we have ever had in Washington DC, in New York, in Atlanta, and elsewhere because our country and our elections are corrupt.”
Trump went on to say he would consider pardoning the January 6th rioters who are supposedly being treated “unfairly,” which is interesting because he had a chance to do this in his final two weeks in office but chose not to. The American right-wing has come a long way from claiming it was actually Antifa members in disguise who were rioting on January 6th. Now Trump and those who follow his lead are perfectly fine saying they were responsible for it and are even hinting that they’d be willing to do it again.
