Joe Biden announced a COVID Task Force and nurses, the people at the front lines fighting the pandemic, need to be on that Task Force. Thersea Brown joins the Thom Hartmann program to discuss the critical need for nurses to be a part of our COVID-19 response.
Theresa Brown, started a change dot org petition to get nurses on President Elect Biden's task force. A press release said the following:
"After the announcement of President-Elect Biden's COVID Task Force, nurses have spoken out about the lack of nursing representation, despite their essential and visible role on the frontline of this national pandemic, using the hashtag #NurseonTaskForce. Nurses even flocked to Change.org, with three petitions on the issue quickly gaining thousands of signatures and going viral.
Theresa Brown, a nurse from Pittsburgh started one of the petitions. Brown is a clinical nurse based out of Pittsburgh, wrote a nursing memoir called THE SHIFT and is a frequent contributor to The New York Times. After noticing the surprising lack of representation on Biden's COVID Task Force, she started a petition on Change.org that's quickly gained over 3,400+ signatures in just days. She writes on her petition: "This Task Force needs a nurse who understands the challenges of frontline care, because American patients deserve the best plan possible for getting COVID under control."
