Joe Biden has turned down a request from Donald Trump to shield the release of visitor logs to the White House on the days leading up to the January 6th Capitol riots. In a letter to the National Archives, Biden’s White House counsel granted Congress the right to investigate the records. The Trump team, having caught wind of the plan, tried to block the release using the argument of executive privilege, which the Biden White House shut down.
This is not the first time Biden has blocked requests from Trump to stop information from being handed over to the January 6th committee. If the “executive privilege” argument didn’t work the last time, the Trump team couldn’t have reasonably thought it was going to work this time. Something as simple as who is visiting the White House should obviously be public information, so the fact that the ex-POTUS wants to hide this suggests that he has a whole lot more to hide surrounding the events of January 6, 2021.
