In a speech in Warsaw, Poland, President Joe Biden criticized autocrats and authoritarians, overtly referring to Vladimir Putin, but implying that the same criticisms apply to Donald Trump and the MAGA movement in the United States. Biden highlighted the importance of opposing autocracy wherever it is found, and described the struggle as being about freedom, which he claimed was at risk from the right. This is an excellent retort to Republicans who pretend they are the party that supports liberty when they want to get the state involved in a number of personal decisions. Biden made clear that the US and its allies would continue to support Ukraine in its defense against Russia. Biden also made the point that the West is not plotting to attack Russia and that he understands millions of Russian citizens only want to live in peace with their neighbors and end the pointless war.
