Gay USA 8/4/2022

On this week’s show, Ann and Andy moderate a panel of four veteran LGBTQ activists with long histories in our movements and a continued determination to move forward despite the challenging times. Jay W. Walker is co-founder of the Reclaim Pride Coalition that puts on New York’s annual Queer Liberation March. He is also an organizer with Gays Against Guns. Cathy Marino-Thomas is a board member, Gilbert Baker Foundation. She was President of Marriage Equality/New York that won the right of same-sex couples to marry in New York through legislation and championed the case of Edie Windsor whose case won federal marriage rights for all same-sex married couples in the USA. Bill Bahlman is veteran of the Gay Activists Alliance from the early 1970s. He was a founding member of the early AIDS activist group, Lavender Hill Mob, and later ACT UP. He is also the longtime associate producer of our GAY USA show. More on Bill here. Tanya A. Walker is a veteran of the US Army and a veteran transgender activist as well. She was a co-founder of the New York Transgender Advocacy Group (NYTAG)
