Marjorie Taylor Greene likely committed heavy perjury when she testified at a hearing on Friday about her role in the January 6th insurrection and whether she should be disqualified from holding office. Time and time again, when Greene didn’t want to answer a question from opposing counsel, she’d say “I don’t recall” or “I don’t remember,” which is a typical response from a witness who has something to hide. In one instance, Greene was asked if she supported Trump using martial law, which she said she couldn’t remember doing. MTG advocated for just this in texts with Trump’s Chief of Staff Mark Meadows (even though she misspelled it as “Marshall law”). Greene also testified at the hearing that she believed Antifa and Black Lives Matter were breaking into the Capitol when the riots began on 1/6. This statement also doesn’t match her texts with Meadows, wherein she said, “Please tell the President to calm people. This isn’t the way to solve anything.” Greene will probably get away with what was likely perjury, just as she will likely get away with her role in riling up Trump supporters in the wake of the 2020 election.
