Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson is going through her Senate confirmation process this week to become a justice on the Supreme Court, and Republicans are doing their best to stand in her way by asking stupid questions. South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham asked Judge Jackson, “what faith are you” and “how important is your faith to you?” Texas Senator Ted Cruz put up a giant chart and asked the SCOTUS nominee whether she agreed with the premise of some book that supposedly argues babies are racist. Finally, Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn asked Judge Jackson, “can you provide a definition for the word ‘woman.’” Ketanji responded that she’s not a biologist and that it’s not her role as a judge to be giving basic dictionary definitions. This was basically how the whole day of questions from Republican senators went, with the notable exception being Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse who actually had some thoughtful and substantive questions for the Supreme Court nominee.
