Retired NYPD detective Pat Brosnan was invited on Fox News to talk about the mass shooting yesterday in San Jose, California that took the lives of 9 people. Brosnan offered up what was probably the dumbest commentary ever on a mass shooting, or at least the dumbest in recent memory. He explained that the shooter must have wanted to wait until getting vaccinated to carry out the attack. Brosnan said to the Fox audience, “you can be sure they probably got vaccinated, they were just scared to come out, and they’re coming back and you see the numbers don’t lie, the shootings are up dramatically.” While it’s true that mass shootings could very well go back to pre-pandemic rates, this is simply because people will soon once again go back to meeting up in large groups. This has nothing to do with the shooter being worried about getting COVID or wanting to wait until they get vaccinated before carrying out an attack. Why would someone prepared to die in a shooting worry about catching coronavirus? It’s all very strange, but it happened to be on the mind of this former NYPD detective while he was on the Fox News airwaves.
