GUEST: Phyllis Bennis, Director, New Internationalism Project at the Institute for Policy Studies, author of numerous books including Understanding Isis and the New Global War on Terror and Ending the US War in Afghanistan.
BACKGROUND: President Donald Trump has provoked the ire of the international community with his fiery speech on Tuesday at the United Nations General Assembly where he threatened to "totally destroy North Korea." He started out on Monday morning with an innocuous speech while seated next to UN Ambassador Nikki Haley where he praised the UN and then complained about its bureaucracy.
A day later he set a completely different tone when he gave his formal address to the General Assembly, referring to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, as "rocket man on a suicide mission."
