The Humanitarian Crisis Unfolding in Ukraine

More than a million people have fled Ukraine in one week alone, due to the deadly invasion by Russian troops. This has the potential to be the largest refugee crisis of the 21st century. Human Rights Watch is calling on countries neighboring Ukraine to allow everyone to enter with a minimum of bureaucracy. This includes Africans and other people of color who have faced racist abuse from authorities as they flee violence in Ukraine. All refugees must be treated with dignity and respect, and the US must do its part in welcoming and supporting refugees from Ukraine and from other war zones. International Rescue Committee is one organization supporting and advocating for refugees. Find out more at rescue.org. As always in war, innocent civilians bear the brunt. We must step in and help.
