The UK-based data gathering and political consulting firm Cambridge Analytica has been facing renewed scrutiny about its roles in two major game-changing elections on both sides of the Atlantic in the wake of a recent investigative news report. The company boasted about creating so-called "psychographic profiles" of voters to change their behavior and voting patterns about a year ago but it wasn't until recently that its impact was taken seriously.

Now, the US-based organization Common Cause has filed complaints about the role of Cambridge Analytica to the Department of Justice and the Federal Election Commission on the basis of election law violations.
