Republican Legislator Proposes to Revise DREAM Act

WASHINGTON — Senator Marco Rubio, (R-FL) delivered details regarding the Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors Act ( DREAM Act) bill this week, which he plans to unveil before September, reports La Opinón. A key element of the bill would provide undoucmented youth access to the current visa system, and would eventually lead to citizenship.

According to the news report, in a meeting with the national Hispanic journalists, Rubio clarified that there is still no written bill, or a draft, but acknowledged that he has been in talks with fellow Republicans and youth groups to refine the proposal.

"This should be done well. We have put a lot of energy in this proposal. They would receive a non-immigrant visa, [that is] renewable, allowing them to be in the country legally through which they can study and work," Rubio told La Opinón.
