The US has spent over 1 Trillion Dollars on the war against drugs. Planes spray fields that may contain illegal crops but the fumigation affects local vegetation, water supplies, and causes serious human health effects. The more money that is place in the fight against drugs the more the drugs become valuable driving up prices and profits. By doing so people remain stuck in the economics of the drug circuit. Polices also see that only the most efficient drug suppliers survive. Competition is eliminated thus creating super-trafficers. Expectations on drug farmers is to produce legal crops such as fruits and vegetables but without transportation, roads, and open markets farmers are unable to do so.
