Nikki Haley's 2024 Republican presidential campaign appears to be off to a bad start, with The Washington Post reporting that her campaign vastly overstated the amount of money she had raised. Instead of the $11 million touted by her campaign, Haley brought in about $8.3 million, not all of which can even be used for the presidential campaign. The filings covering the first three months of the year show that three committees affiliated with Haley collectively brought in the $8.3 million total. Haley's polling numbers do not look very good, with most polling showing her at two, three, or four percent. However, there is speculation that Trump likes the idea of Nikki Haley running because it actually helps him. This is because more alternative candidates will split the anti-Trump vote and provide him with a clearer path to the nomination. Haley’s campaign may not need to go anywhere in the sense that she could be running as an audition for Trump’s vice presidential choice.
