Sonali Kolhatkar speaks with David Dayen about how President-elect Joe Biden could fix the United States healthcare system.
President-elect Joe Biden will be entering office one year into a massive public health emergency. Millions of Americans have been infected with the coronavirus, nearly a quarter of a million have died from it. The U.S.’s already-frayed and massively flawed health care system has been stretched to the limit. But Biden’s needn’t throw his hands up and accept the Affordable Care Act as the best the nation can do – that is if the ACA survives the new pro-Trump Supreme Court. It turns out there are a lot of levers at the hands of a president—especially during an emergency—if he should so choose to use them wisely.
