This year on the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion, there were TWO big commemorations in New York—the regular LGBT Pride Parade that World Pride endorsed and the first Queer Liberation March mounted by Reclaim Pride earlier on Sunday. We will hold a roundtable moderated by Andy with four Reclaim Pride activists: Reginald Thomas Brown, M. Ed., who is also a board member of VOCAL-NY, Francesca Barjon, Robert Baez, and Bax Pitt. We will discuss how the Queer Liberation March attracted 45,000 marchers from all over the world, what it meant to return the march to its origins as an LGBTQ+ political march, and what these activists are working on now in this perilous moment of anti-LGBTQ+ backlash here and abroad, and what their visions are for the future of our liberation. We will also bring you some on-the-scene interviews with participants in the march including Gay USA co-hosts Ann Northrop and Chris Cooper, veteran activist Juanita Ramos, City Council Speaker Corey Johnson, and more.
