Forum: Women and U.S. Immigration Law

COACHELLA, Calif. -- In January, more than 90 farm workers and community leaders gathered in Coachella, Calif. to discuss how U.S. immigration policy affects women in the area. Topics included sexual harassment of women farm workers, who comprise 50 percent of the agricultural workforce, barriers to education and the leadership role women are playing in the Coachella Valley. The event was part of a series of forums organized by New America Media in cities across the country to bring attention to issues facing women immigrants.
