Looking for a new favorite filmmaker? For the past two years we’ve been proud to partner with the Athena Film Festival, a four-day festival held annually in New York City at Columbia University featuring films, documentaries, and shorts that highlight women’s leadership in real life and the fictional world.
This year, the lineup is wonderful, and includes Belle (a true story about the mixed race daughter of an 18th century Admiral), Decoding Annie Parker (which follows the female geneticist who discovered the genetic link in breast cancer and the BRCA1 gene and one of the first women to be diagnosed with said gene), and so many more. Check out the full program here.
We’re excited to continue our partnership with Athena Film Festival this year by hosting a ticket giveaway to Farah Goes Bang. Be the first to comment with a correct answer to the feminist film trivia question below, and you’ll win yourself a pair of tickets to see Farah Goes Bang.
Nikohl Boosheri stars in Farah Goes Bang as Farah Mahtab, an “awkward twenty-something” who hits the road with her buddies K.J. and Roopa to stump for John Kerry in the 2004 presidential election. In what Iran-based 2011 darling of the independent film circuit did Nikohl also star?
Good luck feminist film lovers! And don’t be discouraged if it doesn’t work out for you today. We’ll give away another pair of tickets to a different film tomorrow!
