Ashlee Marie Preston, a history-making Black transgender woman working in media and activism, challenges She the People attendees to embrace truly intersectional advocacy and not shy away from women whose backgrounds, stories, and modes of survival may not fit into a tidy progressive narrative. Preston, who was also the first out trans person to run for California legislature, challenges attendees to "step our feminism up: to expand our scope of intersectionality, to include the people that everybody tends to erase."
