Mitchell Cetuk is the founder of The Blu-nit Organization, a non-profit which uses its trademarked unit the "blu-nit" to offer an at-a-glance reference to a product's environmental impact, and in turn, empower consumers to make an informed purchasing decision. On today's show, we discuss the challenge of calculating the impact of business activities on the environment, coming up with a way to measure a product's impact that can be easily understood by consumers, and the importance of being established as a non-profit. We also discuss the role that consumer choice plays in encouraging sustainable practices and why informing the public about the environmental impact of their purchasing decisions is so important.
