Sacred Medicine
Healthcare is a Human Right. Yet for so many in this country, exemplary care, and specifically alternative and complementary medicine may be prohibitive in cost except for the privileged few. Physician and author Dr Lissa Rankin discusses this idea today in an in-depth interview about the healthcare system. She considers the wealth of knowledge gained through her experiences with indigenous cultures and being witness to their healing wisdom. Her latest book is “Sacred Medicine: A Doctor's Quest to Unravel the Mysteries of Healing.” She believes that beneath chronic illness usually lies trauma of some sort. If we can heal that trauma, and set our boundaries, she believes true healing is possible on all levels. Lissa’s interest in the link between loneliness and disease led her to spearhead her latest project, "Heal At Last," a non-profit organization which aims to bring effective trauma healing and spiritual healing methods to anyone who feels ready.
