How to Rein in Electioneering Corporations
There is a way to rein in electioneering corporations, at least somewhat. Here are the steps: 1) Make sure that the money which corporations spend on politicking and electioneering is not a deductible expense for tax purposes. That way, such expenditure would reduce profits, dollar for dollar. 2) Raise the corporate income tax to match the individual rates. If a corporation is a person, then tax it like one. (To avoid unfair double taxation, we might want to lower the income tax on dividends.) Some of the increased revenue could be used to provide public funding of campaigns. 3) Give a tax break to corporations that voluntarily refrain from politicking and electioneering. Perhaps they could pay the corporate rate now in effect. More drastic measures are also possible. An organization called Move To Amend (aka the Campaign to Legalize Democracy) is pushing for an Constitutional amendment that would reverse this decision and do some other things as well. They are at http://MoveToAmend.org. Easier to do might be an multi-national treaty that would define the rights, privileges, duties, and personhood or lack thereof of corporations. Treaties have modified and continue to have the ability to modify the Constitution. And they are easier to put into effect. A constitutional amendment, absent a Constitutional Convention, requires 2/3rds of the House, 2/3rds of the Senate, and the (bicameral except for Nebraska) legislatures of 3/4ths of the states. A treaty would merely require the President's signature plus 2/3rds of the Senate. The only drawback is that such a treaty would appear to bring the New World Order closer. Such an appearance is deceptive, however. The New World Order to fear is the Corporate New World Order. Biggest Phone Scam Going!!! Verizon must think we're stupid!!!
I just got off of the phone after one hour with Verizon. I spent 20 min with the first help person on #611 who put me on hold for 20 min trying to find out what a picture was considered as on the Verizon network. She finally put me on the phone with a tech who after another 20 min of going back and forth about what a text message is, a picture message is, and what it means to have an unlimited DATA plan. Let me digress for a sec,I have 10 years experience with computer networks, any admin can tell you its ALL DATA!!! its digital information, whether it's a text =character=1 bytes of information; a mobile phone picture= a digital representation of what the lens sees= X amount of bytes or kilo bytes; Email/Web= digital representation of what is seen/downloaded to the phone= X kilo bytes of information, ALL THIS IS DATA!!!!!! I finally told the woman, "I'll make it easy, look paper is from a tree what is a picture on a cell phone if not a digtal representation using data of something?" she answered, and I quote "it's a picture." , WTF!!!????? I asked her "what is a picture?" she said she's not trained in that. "that"?? WTF???!!! she told me it's transmitted through data but im not charged for that, just for the picture. WTF???? Isn't a picture on a phone data??? For that matter aren't all the networks digital????? isn't all that is sent and receive digital data?????? Either they think we're stupid, hoping we wont notice or are not educated in this technology to know it's all data. By not providing an definition to what these terms really are and mean, they define a text as a text, a picture as a picture, and web/email are just that. They hope you're not smart enough to realize that its all data and that if you have unlimited data it should cover all that is data but, they have no desire to define what text and pictures are because they can still charge for it until WE all realize ITS ALL DATA!!!!! There should not be 3 seperate charges for the same thing with different names... another corporate exploitation slipping through the cracks, untill we all have the same commom knowldege...SHARE, signed the peasants are revolting
The Two Stupidest Things in the World
1. That phone companies charge you more for passing a few hundred bits as a text message than for an hour long phone call..... 2. That people actually think text-chatting on a teeny keyboard is convenient. I mean like, seriously, how fast does anyone type on those things??? Oh wait, there's one more stupid thing.... 3. WE ACTUALLY HAVE TO EXPLAIN TO PEOPLE THAT TYPING WHILE DRIVING IS DANGEROUS!!!! THIS VERY FACT OUGHTTA MAKE CONSERVATIVES SHUT THE HELL UP FOREVER ABOUT THE PRECAUTIONARY PRINCIPLE!!!
Corporations and Shareholders
I understand why it was developed and I understand how it is exploited. To deny some one of a convenience which is a necessity to so few? What is this? A corporation's purpose is to profit and make that profit in the shortest time possible. There is no responsibility above the responsibility to the share holder. Buy a share, go to meetings, vote and be heard. Try to understand you can be the conscience for these corporations. Shareholders have the right to be part of every vote and have a right to speak to every issue before the board. Use their rules to rein them in; use manipulation as the corporations do. Learn grow be a part of the game, don't just complain about it. Find a solution to the problem then tell every one and ask for help that is how we as individuals can bring change of any kind. Being a shareholder is not just about making money. oh and please think carefully before speaking or regurgitating what has been told you by others without educating yourself on an issue.
Texting is Unnecessary
I'm 15 and i think texting is completely unnecessary . its just another trend that keeps people spending, like clothing that has the words peace and love in completely irrelevant places (like on the ass) sold by corporations that help fund the war effort thru donations.

I agree with anonymous, article above, why type on a tiny keyboard when I can either solve the issue quickly with a phone call or at least leave a message, telling the other person that I want to take care of something quickly. I must add that even making a phone call is VERY DANGEROUS, PEOPLE THAT TALK ON THE PHONE ARE DRIVING WORSE THAN DRUNKEN DRIVERS, TEXTING RESULTS ARE WORSE. I am sick of trying to get around VERY distracted, swirvng in and out of their lane, going very slow than very fast! GET OFF YOUR DAM PHONES WHILE DRIVING!!!

Good news
I enjoy watching the news on the free speech channel because there is "less crap" than the major news networks. But, I was just wondering when a news station will be developed that doesn't make me want to cut myself. I know the world is screwed. Everyone is aware. There needs to be a news program that reports GOOD NEWS instead of focusing on the BAD NEWS. It can still provide an over view of current negative events but it should focus on the good things going on today. I shouldnt have to wait for my daughter to go to bed before watching the news to avoid tramatizing her. Don't give me that "it's part of life" speech. I don't want her to know that life sucks yet.
THE TRUTH
I turn to FSTV (and Link, CBC, Very few others) for my 'NEWS' because I know in my 'gut' that it is the TRUTH. The corporate networks are never anything more than sound bites for the brain dead, propaganda for the powers that be, and BLATANT BS on Fox. They are just filling time in between the drug commercials. PBS is not much better other than NOW and the soon to be cancelled Bill Moyers Journal. As for FSTV, I nevr miss Democracy Now, I often catch it twice. I truly miss INN and Liberty News, but am glad to see Grit TV, Thom Hartmann, and Global Report coming in to fill the void. Keep Free Speech, and Free THOUGHT alive.
Best "happy" news on TV! Really!
Personally I watch FOX News. They present the truth about things but in the end they also make you believe in yoruself. I think that's the best thing. Most news braodcasts, like these here, present false information (Global Warming? Pluuuese!!! What a load!) and tell you you should be ashamed of existing. FOX on the other hand presents the BS coming from others and then, just like most Americans, they shake their heads at the falsehood of the data and tell you it's okay to be happy and trust that everything will, eventually, get better. So my suggestion is to watch FOX and get happy(er). Have a really great day! (See? I watch FOX so I can honestly say that. I can only imagine the "interesting" responses this will generate. And as you read them, look deep into the messages and ask: "Is the replying person happier than the guy seemed to be who watches FOX?" Gosh! I hope so!)
Al Qaeda? Investigate 9-11 before sending any more troops
Since our entire foreign policy for the last 8 years has been predicated upon the notion that aircraft and fire alone brought down buildings 1, 2, & 7 at the WTC on 9-11, don't you think we need to investigate what actually brought down these buildings before we send any more troops into harms way??? We all know that the invasion of Iraq was based upon lies such as WMD, and Saddam's ties to Al Qaeda, however no one saw the need to question the invasion of Afghanistan. As a matter of fact, the world was behind Bush prior to the invasion of Iraq. No one at that time had looked closely at what happened to those buildings. Bush requested that the photos and videos of 9-11 not be shown on TV any longer because of the trauma it might induce in those who lost loved ones on 9-11.
The facts are these: THIS WAS ALL ABOUT OIL AND THE CONTROL OF THE OIL PRODUCTION IN THIS AREA!. This was all laid out in the Neocon document published in September of 2000 by The New American Century think tank. Greenspan even stated as much. Now the Iraqis know this, because all the oil contracts in Iraq have been awarded to American oil companies. Finally, the purpose of invading Afghanistan was not to get Al Qaeda. Al Qaeda and Osama Bin Laden was our creation as an offshoot of the Mujahadeen. Bush has had long ties with the Bin Laden family, and helped spirit them out of the US right after 9-11. When Osama Bin Laden was in a hospital in Dubai being treated by US doctors before 9-11, he was visited by a CIA agent. If he was such a terrorist, why wasn't he apprehended by INTERPOL? The fact is we let him slip away at Tora Bora because he was in fact our man.
The purpose of the invasion of Afghanistan was to build an oil pipeline, and to increase opium production which had been halted by the Taliban. The CIA has used drug money since Vietnam to help fund its clandestine and covert black ops (Read: The Politics Of Heroin, and Dark Alliance by Gary Webb). Now Opium production is at it's highest and is being helped by the CIA's man Harmid Karzai's brother!
After the collapse of Communism, those on the extreme right (Necons or Neo-Fascists) decided it was a golden opportunity to set up the "New World Order" as stated by Bush 41 (W's Daddy) in 1990. Later this New World Order became the intent of Globalization and control by the world banks and investment houses of Wall Street as stated publicly by David Rockefeller (he even thanked the mainstream media for keeping quiet about this at a banquet given in their honor). Later the PM of Britain stated that 9-11 was a golden opportunity to implement this New World Order, part of which is the consolidation of Mexico, U.S., and Canada into one economic block similar to the European Union, and under one currency (the Amero). Why do you think our boarders have become open sieves through which pass uninspected trucks, illegal aliens, drugs, crime, and who knows what else?

Al Qaeda has been used as a surrogate to destabize Muslim regions of the former Soviet Union and Yugoslavia. Muslim uprisings in the former Yugoslavia, Chechnya, and former Soviet Union, are all geared to destabilize the region requiring NATO, UN and American troops on the ground. The Croats, Albanians, and Muslims all helped destabilize the former Yugoslavia (previously held together by Tito), requiring the Serbs to take action to try and hold their country together. Now, Kosovo has broken away thanks to NATO and the UN, and many Serbs have lost their homes and been displaced.

What if FSTV expanded the moderation to volunteer FSTV'ers around the country/world, with content moderation broken down by geographic areas - so for example, if you lived in Denver you could help moderate content from Southwest Region, or just Colorado, as it suited you. This way, posts would go up faster & the volunteers could serve as FSTVer Advisory Board of sorts, perhaps, giving FSTV more direct input & involvement from end-users? Just thinking out loud. I think the FSTV site needs a forum/UGC area, but it would be impossible for one person to moderate every single post in every section of the area as well as moderating all user video posts, so a volunteer army would need to be assembled to make it work.

the health care problem
1st. is FSTV and LINK the same thing basicaly? if i am able to donate i would like to know if i should send to both or what. Great question. Free Speech TV and LinkTV are two separate networks. Both are non-profit organizations that offer independent, commercial-free programming about social issues and culture. You'll find that FSTV offers more a domestic focus, while LinkTV offers a more international one. While the two networks have some programs in common (like Democracy Now!), Free Speech TV is the only national TV network to air GRITtv and Thom Hartmann Live. Although there is no formal affiliation between our networks, we consider ourselves sisters-in-spirit, providing an outlet for the progressive, independent voices that the corporate media shuts out. I am a regular viewer and big fan of Free Speech TV, Democracy Now, and Amy Goodman. I just finished watching Amy introduce a clip of a George Carlin routine and to my amazement some of what George had to say was "bleeped out". This is what we have to put up with on all the other channels on Dish Network. Someone else deciding what we are allowed to see and hear in a supposedly free and open society. After the clip aired, Amy made a comment about the seven words you are not allowed to say on TV and how this led to a court case about free speech. If you are not going to air content unedited, don't air it at all. If you are not about free speech, you are not Free Speech TV!

My first comment is that there seems to be no "contact us" place on your website, so I am using this reply in lieu of seeing any better way. Thank you for presenting your general expenditures and other information on your site. Before I encourage my group to contribute, I'd like to know if you have you have to pay to be included in DISH or Direct TV, if they pay you, or if there is no money exchanged by being included on these satellite services. Thanks for your great question. FSTV does not receive any funding from any of the systems that carry us--neither DISH Network nor the community cable stations that carrry our programming part-time. In fact, FSTV pays DISH Network for our carriage, under regulations set by the FCC. We also pay fees that enable us to provide our free programming to our cable affialates. FSTV is "powered by our viewers"--we are independent of corporate and government influence because our viewers sustain us w/ their tax-deductible donations. open mic programming
Hi my mane's Josh, I was wondering if you have thought about offering what I call "open mic" programming? By this I mean aloting time slots that air programming sent in by viewers that showcases there message or reporting on a topic, or even political cartoons . Kinda like going one step further with the idea that everyone can be a reporter or producer... Of course there would have to be some sort of screening for these entries and certain perameters they must meet but I believe this would a wonderful opportunity for the station and the viewers alike.
